Re: "Chronic disease care fails" (May 21): The Ontario Health Quality
WE NEED MORE DOCTORS
Council reveals that thousands of patients with chronic diseases are not getting access to the care they need and as a result suffer serious health consequences. Having access to a family doctor is a key element to helping patients manage their illness. Ontario's doctors and the provincial government have made progress in getting more patients access to a family doctor, but there are still 850,000 adults and children who don't have a family doctor. We must remain diligent in our efforts. There must be enough doctors for each and every person in Ontario, because people who don't think they need a doctor today could find themselves in search of one tomorrow. Ontario doctors will continue to advocate for people of all ages to increase access to a family doctor and to the resources needed to keep them healthy.
