Funded Health-care Benefits for Members: OMA Priority Insurance Program Launched pdf link
For just $50 a year, as many as 25,000 qualifying physicians currently practising in Ontario will have access to flexible and comprehensive health insurance plans — Extended Health Care insurance or a Health Spending Account (regardless of age), and Critical Illness insurance (for those under age 65) — that are funded through the new OMA Priority Insurance Program, beginning on January 1, 2008

Health benefits are a matter of significant interest among members and our families, and I am very happy to announce the launch of a new funded benefits program for Ontario physicians — the OMA Priority Insurance Program. The Ministry is providing $25 million annually for the OMA to fund the program, and we hope to build on this initiative in our next round of negotiations.

The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care plans to mail “mini billing profiles” to physicians in December ‘07 or January ‘08. The profiles provide physicians with useful information about their billing patterns in comparison with physicians in the same billing specialty.
