The Honourable Dr. Asha Seth

Dr. Asha Seth is an obstetrician-gynecologist and a retired senator who advocates for maternal, newborn and child health.

The Honourable Dr. Asha Seth is a family practice obstetrician and gynecologist with 45 years of practice experience, and the first Indo-Canadian female to be appointed to the Senate of Canada. Dr. Seth retired from the Senate in 2014 but continues to represent Canada’s international development priorities through her professional and philanthropic work in maternal, newborn and child health. She also actively promotes recognition and education of her Senate motions in support of National Vision Health Month and International Maternal and Newborn Health Month, both in Canada and internationally. Dr. Seth serves on the national board of the Canadian National Institute for the Blind and is a representative of the Micronutrient Initiative.
