OMA urges vaccination push to prevent rollback of pandemic restrictions

TORONTO, July 9, 2021—Ontario’s doctors encourage everyone who has not yet been vaccinated against COVID-19 to get their shots as soon as possible to avoid the risk of having pandemic restrictions reinstated.

Like all Ontarians, doctors are looking forward to enjoying more time with friends and family this summer.

The Ontario Medical Association remains concerned about the Delta variant of the virus, which is more contagious and can cause more serious illness.

“We continue to encourage all Ontarians to book their vaccine appointments so that they are fully immunized against COVID-19,” said OMA President Dr. Adam Kassam. “Ensuring that we are all fully vaccinated will allow us to continue moving forward in our recovery phase of the pandemic.”

The OMA urges the government to continue to pay close attention to COVID-19 infection and hospitalization rates, to follow the advice of the Ontario COVID-19 Science Advisory Table, and to act swiftly if the virus starts spreading again.
