Mark Your Calendar: #DoctorsDay2021 – May 1 – now more important than ever as COVID-19 battle continues

ONTARIO, May 1, 2021 – For Doctors’ Day this year, the second year of the pandemic, Ontarians are encouraged to show their appreciation for physicians on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic on May 1 and join the campaign led by the Ontario Medical Association.

Every year on May 1, Ontarians celebrate their doctors’ expertise and dedication to patient care. As our front-line heroes battle the third wave of COVID-19, doctors need our support more than ever. Let’s make Doctors’ Day 2021 bigger than ever.

The Ontario Medical Association is inviting people across Ontario to show their appreciation for the doctors in their community by:

  • Sharing the hashtag #DoctorsDay2021
  • Shining a light with phones, flashlights or candles at 9 p.m. on May 1 for five minutes
  • Pledging their support for their local doctors at doctorsday.ca

Join the campaign with political leaders, organizations and, influencers when, landmarks such as the CN Tower and Niagara Falls and city halls across the province are lit blue to celebrate the day.

Ontarians are encouraged to write a message or post pictures and videos acknowledging doctors on social media, such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Tik Tok.

Every day, Ontario’s doctors treat and care for more than 340,000 patients across the province. Ontario’s doctors work hard to ensure that patients are getting the care they need, whether it’s in a hospital, long-term care home, clinic, research lab or in a patient’s home.
