On December 17th, 2015 the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care released the Patients First: A proposal to strengthen patient-centred health care in Ontario discussion paper. The paper proposes significant changes to our health care system, focussing on 4 main components:

  • More effective integration of services and greater equity
  • Timely access to primary care, and seamless links between primary care and other services
  • More consistent and accessible home and community care
  • Stronger links between population and public health and other health services.

To keep our members informed and engaged with current activities related to the primary care transformation, this webpage provides a repository of resources that will be frequently updated as more information becomes available.

Primary Health Care Advisory Group

The OMA Board of Directors established the Primary Health Care Advisory Group to address the MOHLTC’s reform proposals. 
The Primary Health Care Advisory Group will identify and provide advice on issues related to the government of Ontario’s proposed changes to the Primary Health Care System.
