Toronto, ON, May 9, 2016 – This week is National Nursing Week and, on behalf of Ontario’s doctors, I want to recognize nurses and nursing students for their hard work, compassion, leadership, and dedication to patient care. Every day and in many different health-care settings, patients and their families are touched by the work of Ontario’s nurses.

Nurses are an integral part of our health-care system. In addition to providing front-line care, nurses are involved in research and spearhead many initiatives that help improve the delivery of care.

Doctors and nurses work collaboratively in clinics, hospitals, and other health-care settings to provide high-quality, patient-focused care for our patients. Team-based care is an essential part of our health-care system.

Ontario’s Doctors support an integrated health-care system – one that harnesses the strengths of the many and varied health providers and sectors – to deliver the best care, and care that is centered on the needs of our patients.

Happy Nursing Week.
