Media Statement

Toronto, May 15, 2014 - The Ontario Medical Association (OMA) supports strong collaboration between doctors, nurses and other health care professionals to provide highquality health care. We also support allowing health care professionals work to their full capacity. The future of our health care system depends on strong partnership between all providers and sectors and the efficient use of all resources.

Patient safety must be paramount and any discussions involving changes to the way care is delivered must be viewed through this critical lens.

The OMA looks forward to discussing this idea further with the patients, nurses, regulatory colleges and the elected government so we can continue to improve access to high-quality, safe patient care and ensure the sustainability of the health care system.

Dr. Ved Tandan
President
Ontario Medical Association
