Statement from OMA on provincial government commitment to gender identity theory

The Ontario Medical Association (OMA) is reassured that the provincial government has noted that it is not moving forward with a party resolution which called for the removal of gender identity theory from the education curriculum. The OMA supports policy that respects persons of all gender identities and expressions. Statements being made to the contrary further stigmatizes and have no place in Ontario. Among other things, the disproportionately high rates of suicide among the LGBTQ community is cause for a significant health concern.

Ontario’s doctors want the public to know that all people are respected and welcome in our practices.
