"Doctors across Ontario are deeply troubled by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s decision to abruptly remove over 200 trainee physicians and surgeons from our hospitals. This damages not only the necessary medical research they are conducting, but their own education as well. Worse, it will also impact patient care at various levels — these residents and fellows are a core part of our medical workforce. They work right alongside our other medical staff providing vital medical services in all specialties in all teaching hospitals.

The knowledge and training provided by Ontario’s teaching hospitals is on par with the rest of the world. This is a disappointing end to what has been a mutually beneficial partnership and a vital service to patients across the province."
