Dr. Whatley trained in medicine at the University of Ottawa and completed his residency at the University of Toronto; he has worked in emergency medicine and served for a number of years in a leadership position at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket. He is a lecturer for the University of Toronto, Department of Family and Community Medicine. He is currently a rural family physician in Mount Albert.
Dr. Whatley previously served as a member of the OMA Board for six and a half years before he was elected President in May 2017. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Canadian Medical Association.
