Thank you so much for supporting the 2020 Shoebox Project Initiative.

The Ontario Medical Foundation and the OMA Board of Directors collaborated again in 2020 to support The Shoebox Project Initiative in honour of the late Dr. Elana Fric, who was an active Council delegate.

The OMF's goal was to raise funds to distribute $50 gift cards to 120 women across Ontario. The OMA generously matched the funds raised with a $10,000 donation.

The support we received from physicians across the province and from OMA staff far exceeded our expectations. With the generous support received, 621 gift cards were distributed to women in need.

The year 2020 was an especially difficult one for everyone, and your generosity provided support and encouragement to many women in need during this challenging time.

$31087 was raised for the Shoebox project in 2020.

What is The Shoebox Project?

The Shoebox Project for Women, supported by Dream, collects and distributes gift-filled Shoeboxes to women who are living in shelters, on the streets or in other under-housed situations. Each shoebox gift is valued at $50 and filled with warm mittens and hats, hygiene products, gift cards and hand-written messages of encouragement.

The Shoebox Project is committed to spreading joy and a sense of belonging to women affected by homelessness. Gifts will continue to be a powerful reminder for a woman that she is not forgotten, and that she remains a valued and respected member of her community.
