Elsie Culliton of Lakefield passed away peacefully at PRHC on July 28, 2023, at the age of 97.
Elsie grew up on a farm in Manitoba. She took her mother's suggestion to "do something impossible" and became a medical doctor in 1951. She had a full general practice starting in northern Manitoba, and then in various places in Ontario ending in Orangeville/Shelburne.
Her other interests included poetry writing, hiking, skiing and painting. She will be remembered for her kindness and compassionate treatment of all people. Elsie is sadly missed by her spouse Ellis Culliton of Lakefield, her children Geoff Culliton (Anu) of Nepean, Dr. Margaret Laura Culliton (Wesley Harris) of Corner Brook, Nfld., and step-son Hugh Culliton (Laura) of Belleville. Loving grandmother of Shaan, Neena, Laurel, Francine, Tristan and Duncan. Predeceased by her parents David and Irene and her siblings Dr. Margaret Bigelow (Howard), Gordon Barr and Frances Smythe.
