Dr. Malcolm John B. Stalker

Dr. Malcom (John) Stalker passed away in his 95th year, predeceased by his beloved wife, Harriette (Trawin). Lovingly remembered by his children, Catherine (Ted McClelland), Ian and Linda (Michael Ansara). Adored by his grandchildren, Meagan (Brett), Andrew (Lauren), Abigail and Molly; and his great-grandson, Theo. Predeceased by his sister, Olga Mathews. Dad was born in Neuilly-Sur Seine, France. After living briefly in Wales, the family settled in Toronto in 1933. Dad attended Lawrence Park Collegiate, then the University of Toronto Medical School, graduating in 1954.

While at the University of Toronto, Dad excelled at sports and was president of the Medical Society, and then elected as president of the Student Advisory Committee. His medical career took him to Copper Cliff, back to Toronto to complete a specialty in Internal Medicine, a return to Copper Cliff/Sudbury and in 1968 to Queen's University to start the Department of Family Medicine. Dad was a respected physician and professor, who was dedicated to patient care and clinical teaching. After retiring as associate professor in the Department of Medicine and the Department of Family Medicine, Dad continued with a part-time private practice until 2012.

Dad had many interests over the years. He loved watching old movies, a variety of sports, listening to music from the '40s and '50s, spending time tending to his vegetable garden, and paddling his canoe or sailing his laser at the family cottage on Eagle Lake. He enjoyed travel, skiing, curling and bridge, but most of all, enjoyed time with his family. Dad touched the lives of many in both his professional and private life. His calm and gentle demeanor, generous nature, never-failing warm, personal interest in people and his quick smile and hearty laugh made him a person to whom others were drawn. How fortunate we are to have had a father to whom it is so difficult to say goodbye. Our deepest gratitude to Dr. Elizabeth Lawrence and Queen's Palliative Care.
