Dr. Patricia Horsham

Pediatrician Dr. Patricia Horsham has combined her passions for law and medicine to serve as a medical expert in child abuse cases.

Dr. Patricia Horsham has practiced medicine as an emergency pediatric physician at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario in Ottawa for over 25 years. An esteemed physician, she was appointed as the University of Ottawa representative to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Dr. Horsham was also a member of the University of Ottawa’s advisory board, medical faculty, and the International Association of Child Abuse and Neglect. Dr. Horsham has had unique experiences in the areas where medicine, law and social issues interact, and enriched by her 12 years at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

Originally from Trinidad, Dr. Horsham’s interests in law and medicine peaked in the emergency room. She was troubled to see abused children visit her hospital and angered when perpetrators got away with their abuse. A foremost authority on child abuse and child sexual abuse, Dr. Horsham has served as a medical expert in more than 40 cases in Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and Texas. She has also written extensively, including a widely used textbook on shaken baby syndrome, and lectured in Canada and the West Indies.
