Team description
The digital health team is an operational team within the SGFP. This team advances digital health activity aligned to SGFP strategy and vision of the SGFP Executive where family physicians are both leaders and experts who shape a strong, unified voice for a community-driven healthcare system. Digital health is being defined in that it leverages digital technologies across clinical and community care to optimize health outcomes and ensure connected, convenient, efficient and cost-effective patient-centered care.
Role responsibilities
The digital health team member responsibilities include:
- Advising, reviewing and executing on section digital health activities including advocating for the needs of family physicians, and exploring business opportunities arising from advancements in digital health services and tools.
- Understanding the diverse interests and digital health needs of the section membership
- Contribute to team strategic planning, vision and advice relating to digital health solutions and systems to enhance family practice efficiency and sustainability
- Work with the digital health team to gather feedback to drive continuous improvement in digital health services
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, including but not limited to OntarioMD, Ontario Health, Ontario Health Teams, OCFP to direct digital health solutions that meet the best interests of family physicians, patients, and the healthcare system as a whole
- Identify the specific needs and concerns of family physicians within OntarioMD's digital shared services initiative, ensuring projects are aligned with the practical realities of family medicine
- Work within the SGFP executive approved team mandate and terms of reference
- Fostering a positive culture that is respectful, civil and collaborative
- Work in close alignment with members of the tariff and policy and advocacy teams to advance and optimize mutual priorities
- Attendance required as a delegate at the OMA General Assembly (GA) and Priority and Leadership Group (PLG)
- GA 2026 – November 21/22; PLG 2027 – May 29/30
- Dates for GA and PLG thru 2028
Reporting relationship
The position will work with the digital health co-leads, who report to the SGFP CEO.
Skills and background required
- Awareness of digital health technologies and their application in family practice. Expertise in digital tools and technologies is not a requirement
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Strong advocacy skills with a focus on representing the needs and concerns of family physicians
- Analytical skills to gather and interpret feedback and data for continuous improvement
- Family physician with a preference for comprehensive family practice
All appointed members must observe and comply with the rules, procedures and policies established by the association, including but not limited to: the member code of conduct and civility policy, the OMA privacy policy, respect and safety in the workplace policy, and any updates or future iterations of these. Eligibility
Vacant positions are open to all SGFP members who:
- Are an OMA member in good standing
- Are in good standing with the CPSO (e.g., Do not have a CPSO license that has been suspended or restricted due to a finding of professional misconduct)
- Are not serving on any other OMA committees, panels, task forces or working groups that restrict eligibility to hold a constituency group leadership position, or any other positions that may present a conflict of interest
- Have the combination of technical, interpersonal, organizational and political skills and knowledge required by the section to complete digital health related work successfully and efficiently
Term
The term of the digital health team member is one year until June 30, 2027 and will commence immediately following the appointment.
Time commitment
- The team will meet virtually as a team monthly for approximately 90 minutes or potentially with the SGFP executive and/or other SGFP teams (policy or tariff) Members will be expected to prepare for each meeting (material review).
- There will also be work outside of team meetings as required to work on digital health initiatives and meet with external stakeholders to advance SGFP goals
- Twice-yearly, in-person full-day meetings with the tariff, digital health teams and SGFP executive, typically the Friday before GA and PLG
- Twice-yearly, in-person attendance at the OMA General Assembly and the Priority and Leadership Group, requiring a full-weekend commitment
Remuneration
Members are compensated for their time spent in meetings and for work as required and approved by the chair, according to the OMA’s Financial Policy regarding physician leader honoraria. Currently this includes an hourly honorarium plus reimbursement for necessary and related travel expenses such as transportation costs, travel time and accommodations. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a 15-minute interview with the co-Leads of the digital health team.
Evaluation process
After the intake period closes, an evaluating team consisting of SGFP members will review all applications against a standardized scoring matrix. Candidates will be shortlisted and invited to participate in an interview.
Applicant submissions are evaluated against a predetermined skills matrix. Other selection factors may include diversification of member demographics (e.g. gender and practice location), the presence of specific technical skills and the cohesiveness of the section executive composition as a whole. Currently, all applications undergo the same evaluation process, regardless of a member’s history with the OMA.
Members are encouraged to answer all questions as completely as possible, allowing the selection panel to fairly assess your knowledge and skills. SGFP members who may not be familiar with your work and experience will be reviewing your application.

Team description
The policy team is an operational team within the SGFP. This team executes and advises on policy development and related advocacy that aligns to the strategic direction of the SGFP executive.
Role and responsibilities
The policy team member responsibilities include:
- Advising, designing, reviewing and executing on section policy and related advocacy activities
- Working with the SGFP executive and support staff to ensure appropriate representation of the experience and needs of section members
- Work in close alignment with members of the tariff and digital health teams to advance and optimize mutual priorities
- Build relationships with OMA Health Policy Committee and related supports to embed the family medicine voice into OMA policy
- Collaborate with external partners to develop and reach policy solutions that meet the best interests of family physicians, patients, and the health care system as a whole
- Work within the SGFP executive-approved team mandate and terms of reference
- Fostering a positive culture that is respectful, civil, and collaborative
- Attendance required as a delegate at the OMA General Assembly (GA) and Priority and Leadership Group (PLG)

Reporting relationship
The position will work with the policy team co-lead, who reports to the SGFP CEO.
Skills and background required
- Demonstrated experience shaping, informing or influencing health policy
- Demonstrated experience with advocacy; advocacy for family medicine is preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in analytical thinking and problem-solving
- Proven consultation, partnership building, and relationship management skills to establish key linkages on policy development projects
- Knowledge of existing government policy and strategic direction
- Ability to differentiate policies that impact family doctors directly, as well as those that align to SGFP strategic direction
- Ability to proactively identify issues that may impact the profession

- Twice-yearly, in-person attendance at the OMA General Assembly and the Priority and Leadership Group, requiring a full-weekend commitment

Team description
The tariff team is an operational team within the SGFP. Its mandate is to develop innovative solutions for appropriate and sustainable compensation for all family physicians, and aligned to the strategic direction of the SGFP executive.
Role and responsibilities
The tariff team member responsibilities include:
- Managing, in collaboration with the tariff lead, section chair, tariff lead and the CEO, all matters relating to physician billing, fees, and remuneration, including preparation of documentation and information for submission to relevant OMA committees (e.g., Negotiations Task Force, Physician Payment Committee, etc.)
- Understanding the diverse interests, needs and payment models of the section membership to inform compensation and fee deliberations
- Working with the SGFP executive to ensure appropriate representation of the experience and needs of all section members
- Representing the section during physician services agreement negotiations and physician payment/fee setting processes, as directed by the tariff lead and section chair
- Work within the SGFP executive approved tariff team mandate and terms of reference
- Fostering a positive culture that is respectful, civil and collaborative
- Attendance required as a delegate at the OMA General Assembly (GA) and Priority and Leadership Group (PLG)
