Dr. Robert Douglas Sheppard

A full life can be easily reflected when looking at the one Bob chose to live. Born in January 1934 as the youngest of four boys (Bruce, Ross, Donald) in St. Catharines, Ont., he stayed committed to the area for his entire life.

Bob approached all of his challenges with purpose, including graduating from Ridley College in 1953, and the pursuit of a future in medicine at Western University. He interned at the McGill teaching hospital for three years, followed by one year of general surgery at Hamilton General Hospital.

He launched his own ENT practice on Church Street to give back to his hometown. At this practice, he made an impact on many people in the Niagara area until 1996, when he returned to assisting surgery for another decade.

Married to Christine in 1960, Bob passed his wit, strong work ethic, open mind and humility on to his children Elizabeth and Robert, four grandchildren Marshall, Stuart, William and Emma, and further on to his great-grandchild, Violet.

He passed peacefully on his own terms, while surrounded by family and holding hands with his partner Gloria. He gained significant energy from the support of many friends who reached out or visited him during his recent challenges.

Bob showed an unwavering dedication to his family and career while simultaneously ensuring that there was always space for playing cards, telling a good joke, or a bit of time for his passion of fishing.
