Paul Edward Allan Hiscox of Owen Sound passed away peacefully at Brightshores Health System Owen Sound, on Saturday, November 23, 2024, in his 89th year. He was born in Toronto on Sunday, December 29, 1935.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife and best friend Lorraine Hiscox (nee McKeen, Gonder), and her children Teresa, Janet, Brent, Ian, Nathan, and their families. He is also survived by three children, Heather, Paula, Wendy, their children, and their mother, Harriet. Dear brother of Dianne and Peter. Paul will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Edward and Verda Hiscox, and by his brother Howard.
Dr. Hiscox was born, raised and educated in Toronto. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto in 1959. After junior and senior internships in Toronto, he practised as a family physician for two years in Owen Sound in partnership with friend and medical classmate, Dr. John Warnica. Dr. Hiscox then returned to the University of Toronto to specialize in Ophthalmology and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada in 1966. Dr. Hiscox practised general Ophthalmology in Owen Sound from 1966 until his retirement in 2004.
Outside of medicine, Paul had many interests, particularly trout fishing, golf, music, and nature. He was an active member of Trinity United Church, Annan, where he sang in the choir and played for services on piano and vibraphone.
