The OMA advocates for Ontario’s doctors through a variety of strategies to generate support from government decision makers, elected officials, influencers and the public.

Physician burnout

Burnout is a system-level issue that impacts many physicians in Ontario. As a group, physicians have higher than average rates of burnout than the general population. Learn about how the OMA advocates to the Ontario government to address burnout as a system-wide issue.

Mental health and addiction care

One of the OMA’s top policy priorities is to support and strengthen Ontario’s mental health and addiction sector. The OMA shapes and influences provincial health-care policy through amplifying physicians’ voices on policy issues that matter to the profession.

Provincial budget

The OMA advocates for doctors and patients in advance of provincial budgets. Together with physician health-care advocates, the OMA works to bring our recommendations to elected officials for better health care in Ontario.

OMA advocacy statement
