It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carl Leahy, a devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather, who left us peacefully on May 2, 2025.
Carl was a loving husband to Marthe, his wife of 63 years, a proud father to his three sons, Marc (Christal), Patrick (Dawn), and Martin (Renee), and a cherished grandfather to Brigitte, Dominic, Raymond, Paschale, Arden, Caitlin, and Abigail. Son of the late Ollan and Agnes Leahy, and brother of the late Gerald, Carl will be missed by his three sisters Marian, Lenore, and Karen.
Carl grew up on a farm in Douro, Ontario, surrounded by a large extended family, where it was instilled in him the value of hard work, love, and the joy of music. After graduating from the University of Ottawa medical school with gold medal distinction in 1964, Carl dedicated his life to the field of Urology. As a respected physician and surgeon, he spent 35 years serving his community with compassion and expertise, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of countless patients.
Cremation has taken place, and a private burial will be held at a later date. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Drs O'Shea, Whetter, Hostland and Graves. We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the compassionate staff of the QCH emergency department and ACE unit for the exceptional care Carl received during his final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Ottawa Mission or the Shepherds of Good Hope, organizations that reflect Carl’s compassionate spirit and commitment to helping those in need.
