Dr. Deborah Susan Danoff

Deborah Susan Danoff, M.D. died on August 31, 2025. She was 75 years old. Over her distinguished career, Dr. Danoff was an outstanding clinician, medical educator and civil servant.

Deborah received her M.D. from McGill University School of Medicine in 1973 and completed her Internal Medicine and Clinical Immunology and Allergy training there. She then remained on the faculty at McGill as a clinician and medical educator. She became a tenured Professor of Medicine in 1995 and was the Associate Dean of Medical Education.

Subsequently, she worked at the Association of American Medical Colleges in Washington, DC and CMPA and Health Canada in Ottawa and served as McLaughlin Professor of Medical Education at the University of Ottawa.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Marcus Danoff and father Jascha Wolsey Danoff.

She will be mourned as a wonderful sister by her brother and sisters: Sandra (John Godfrey); Theodore (Diane Siegel Danoff), and Sonye (Larry Brody), as well as her nieces and nephews, both human (Michelle and Amy Danoff; Shoshana, Rebecca, and Elias Brody) and canine.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Baltimore, Maryland. Donations in her memory may be made to the Ottawa Food Bank.
