Harry was happiest when racing down the ski hills, driving his Alfa, curling, dancing, or playing poker. He also enjoyed fine wine, laughter, and telling stories.
Harry led a life of giving to others. After retiring from the medical profession, Harry and Daphne enjoyed many travel adventures and created life memories. Always ready with an infectious smile and a kind word, Harry welcomed all friends and family and was a most generous host. He became well known for his mesquite barbecue smoked turkey!
Although too soon, Harry passed away peacefully, the result of congestive heart failure and related complications.
Harry’s friends and family were very important to him. Father of Connor (Erin) and Matthew, and brother of Bob. Harry also leaves behind his wife Daphne, Danielle (Jeff), Derek (Jes), Trevor (Cassie), and his precious grandsons, Jack and Myles, who already miss their Opap.
Harry was proud of his Latvian heritage. He was pre deceased by his mother Diana Jablokova, father Carl Dzintars Vorps, first wife Bridget Zasada, and sister-in-law Daiva.
A celebration of Harry’s life will be held at the Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club on Sunday April 19th, from 1-3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Campbell House Hospice in Collingwood. This is where Harry received end of life care, offered with the utmost compassion and dignity. Many thanks to the staff and volunteers of this special Hospice. Alternatively, a donation in Harry’s honour to the Scarborough General Hospital, where he worked for over 30 years, would be appreciated.
