We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Dr. Murray Allen on July 24, 2025.
Murray was a devoted son, husband, brother, father, grandfather, friend, colleague, and surgeon. He was a font of knowledge medical and otherwise and had an extraordinary ability to solve problems and fix almost anything.
He began his long and dedicated career at the Ottawa Hospital in 1993 and officially retired in 2023. In retirement, he embraced life as a joyful grandfather and threw himself into projects at his own home and at the homes of family and friends. He and his wife were avid travellers, eagerly exploring new places, revisiting old favourites, and always extending invitations to their loved ones to share in the experience.
Murray is survived by his beloved wife, Anne; his children and grandchildren: Timothy (Reshma and Serena), Kathleen (Curren and Zayn), Meredith (Dag), Vivien (Nathan), and Patrick (Julie and Fionn); his brother, Robert (Sudhatri); his mother-in-law, Marie; his brothers-in-law, Peter (Marlene), Stephen (Janice), and David (Rosaline); as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was predeceased by his parents, George and Maisie, and his sister, Patricia.
