Passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026, surrounded by family at Joseph Brant Hospital after a heroic 24-month battle with cancer.
Known for his kindness, joy and love of humour, Paul was a gentle soul who truly valued the feelings of those around him. He was passionate about sports, nature and the arts and loved nothing more than sharing his passions with his family and friends.
Once a curious young boy who loved to read his dad's medical textbooks, Paul went on to study medicine at Western University and practised at King West Medical for over 25 years. Dr. Hart was a pillar of the Hamilton medical community who loved his work and his staff and cared deeply for his patients.
Even in the toughest of times, his spirit never dwindled. As his memory faded, he never forgot the lyrics of his favourite songs, the faces of the people he loved, or the chords for his air guitar. Up until his final moments, Paul was smiling, cracking jokes, and giving his family his signature rock on
hand symbol.
Paul is survived by his spouse Shari; his children Andrew (Alicia), Cameron and Jamie; his stepchildren, Jack, Ty and Ava; his siblings, Alan, Jocelyn and Tim (Kim); nieces, Catherine, Danielle, Sophie and Paulina; and his nephew, Harrison. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leanor and Alan.
