Pathologist
Born Jan. 2, 1939, and died March 31, 2026. Son of the late Israel Alter and Jenny Lafell. Reuben will be deeply missed by his daughters, Lisa and Caroline; son-in-law, Jack Bardy; loving grandsons, Miles, Ike, and Louie; former wife, Ruth; sister, Evelyn Kruger; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Esta Pomotov, and Marcia and Art Zalev; many nieces, nephews, friends and former medical colleagues. He was predeceased by his sister, Rosie Copeland; and brothers-in-law, Alan Copeland, Mel Kruger and David Pomotov.
Brave, strong, smart and sharp as a tack until the end. A brilliant doctor who graduated second in his U of T medical class (he was first, but slipped to second after he met Ruth), he was very well respected as a pathologist specializing in kidney disease.
We all know his life was not easy, as he lived with multiple sclerosis for 45 years, something almost unheard of. However, he never complained. He kept himself engaged with the world as best he could and deeply enjoyed speaking with his daughters and grandsons, discussing politics, Israel and other current affairs.
The world is dimmer without him, and we wish him eternal peace and comfort as he joins his beloved daughter, Amy.
