OHIP red tape is failing patients

Help Ontario's Doctors fix this

In spring 2026, we launched an advocacy campaign “Let’s fix OHIP” to increase pressure on the government to remove unnecessary red tape that’s creating uncertainty for doctors and putting health of Ontarians at risk.

The campaign focused on these key issues:

  • Payment delays and rejected claims that are limiting access to care
  • Gaps in funding health care for newborns
  • An outdated system that could be improved with AI

Purpose

Ontario’s Doctors have the solutions to fix OHIP. We called on the government to act on those solutions and make improvements that would work better for both patients and doctors. Our goal was to ensure that health care remained a top priority in the provincial budget discussions when the Legislature returned.

How we took action

We asked the public to stand with Ontario’s Doctors and help fix OHIP by:

  • Learning more about our proposed solutions
  • Emailing their MPP to support Ontario’s doctors
  • Amplifying on social media by liking, sharing and commenting

Channels

We ran a paid advertising campaign across social media, directing the public to visit our website to learn more about our solutions, email their MPP, and hear first-hand stories from doctors providing urgent care to accident victims, newborns, unhoused members of the community and other vulnerable patients often without pay.
